Mustafa Açıkalın Primary School
Mustafa Açıkalın Primary School located in Akçakoca, a lovely seaside town in the West Black Sea Region,is in an advantaged area since it is close to İstanbul and Ankara.
Mustafa Açıkalın Primary School was founded between the years 1922-1927 under the name of ‘’Osmaniye Ünas Mektebi’’ in the shipyard building.In 1986 the school’s name was changed to ‘’ Atatürk İlkokulu’’ and during the academic year 2007-2008 it took the name’ Mustafa Açıkalın Primary School’.
In our school there are 800 students aged to 6-14,35 teachers,3 administarators and 2 attendants.2 teachers’ room,1 equipment room,1 library,1 advisor’s room,1 Art room,1 music room,1Art and Crafts room,1 Computer room,1 canteen,2 Science labaratories and a big garden including sport area are in use in our school. Most of the classes have computer system including project system ,smart board and internet access.
In our school 1 sudent with physical disability,4 students with first level mental defiency,1 student with secondary level mental defiency , 1 student with speech and language difficulties and 1 student with hearing disability are mainstreaming education with other students in normal classes.We help them integrate in the collectivity with the help of additional programs.
Mustafa Açıkalın Primary School is one of the most popular schools in this area because of its national and international academic success ,and being active on sports and environmental projects.
Because our school wasn’t involved still in any Comenius Projects we think it will give opportunity to the students to present their talents and to develope key competences in an international area.With this Project sudents mostly will be able to visit European countries (most of the families can not afford this kind of opportunity themselves because of economical problems)and they will be able to use the technology at the top that our school is capable of high technology,the pupils and students will achive a chance to broaden their knowledge and experiences.
